Why is CHRID a "Web-based" Application?

One of the things that is neat about CHRID is that it is a web-based application. That does not mean it has to be out in "public view". It can just as easily live on a private network. In fact, you might ask, "Why is it neat"? What's the point of a web based application and how is it superior to a desktop or traditional client/server application? I'm glad you asked!
